One country signature away from OCM operationalization

Caribbean SIDS continue to demonstrate global leadership as efforts to operationalize the regional Coordination Mechanism for integrated Ocean Governance in the Wider Caribbean region got some good traction over the past few weeks: four additional countries - 3 of which being SIDS - signed the Memorandum of Understanding that will enable the creation of the OCM: Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Costa Rica and St Vincent and the Grenadines. This brings the total of parties that have signed the MoU to date to 24, 16 of these being countries and with 8 signatures coming from Intergovernmental organizations (IGOs) active in the region on an oceans-related mandate. The PROCARIBE+ Regional Unit remains available to support additional country memberships, in the pursuit of OCM operationalization prior to year end.

Countries and territories that are eligible for direct financial support from the GEF and that are full PROCARIBE+ participants.
